Jennifer Arnold, President
Jennifer Arnold has been elected president of BIHN, and will be leading the reorganization efforts of the Network, following experience serving as a coordinator and
volunteer since the group’s inception in 2004. Arnold has been a freelance writer and editor for the last 12 years, researching,
writing and editing articles, newsletters, books and other publications for clients in the healthcare, medicine and business fields. She received her
Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Mass Media from The American University in Washington, DC and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts
in Ministerial Studies at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and a Masters in Non-Profit Management at College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
Arnold is a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Towson.
Rabbi Elizabeth Bolton, Vice President
Rabbi Elizabeth Bolton has been elected vice president of BIHN and became re-involved in the reorganization
efforts following her early work toward establishing and developing the network,
and ongoing support of her congregation's active participation. Since
1999, she has served as rabbi at Congregation Beit Tikvah, a Reconstructionist
synagogue that meets at First Christian Church in Roland Park. Bolton
is an accomplished cantor, and has taught and performed for many years. She
graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Philadelphia
with a Masters of Hebrew Letters and rabbinic ordination in 1996, and has
served as an active leader and advisor for a number of religious and human
rights groups.
Mark Ermer, Treasurer
Mark Ermer has been elected treasurer of BIHN, where his responsibilities include managing
and tracking finances, expenses and donations made to the network. Ermer has
served in the Office of Legislative Audits for the State of Maryland,
Department of Legislative Services for more than 25 years, where he has planned
and conducted fiscal compliance audits, performance audits and fraud
investigations at various State agencies. Ermer holds a Bachelor of Science in
Accounting from the University of Baltimore, and is a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Perry Hall.
Carol Bishop, Secratary
Carol Bishop has been elected secretary of BIHN, where her responsibilities include maintaining
an accurate record of decisions made by the board and ensuring documentation
for the organization is up-to-date. For the last 16 years, Bishop has been
employed at Black and Decker Corporation as information technology director of
global supply chain planning. She previously worked for Andersen Consulting.
Bishop received a Masters in Business Administration from College of William
and Mary in Williamsburg, VA and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Allegheny
College in Pennsylvania. Bishop is an elder at Roland Park Presbyterian.
Father Tom Carter, Immediate Past President
Carter has been serving the BIHN board since its inception, most recently as president and earlier on the
BIHN start-up committee. He also helped establish the Interfaith Hospitality
Network of York County, SC, where he also served as president. Carter is a
rector at Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Cedarcroft.

Lewis Hibbs
Lewis Hibbs has been elected board member of BIHN and chairs its development committee. Hibbs has
more than 30 years experience in the home finance and real estate business, and
currently runs a leading Wells Fargo Mortgage office in Towson. He was previously active in the construction and
remodeling industries. Hibbs is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting in Baltimore.
Kate McGuire
Kate McGuire has been elected board member of BIHN and chairs its
communications committee. McGuire currently serves as director of advancement
for The Arc of Baltimore, and was previously development director of the
Maryland Food Bank. She has worked and volunteered with numerous non-profit
organizations during her career. McGuire received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications
from Loyola University in New Orleans, La. She is a member of Ascension
Lutheran Church in Towson.
Elana Richman
Elana Richman has been elected board member of BIHN and chairs the
grant-writing function of the development committee. For the last two years,
she has served as federal grants manager for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission
in Harrisburg, Pa. Previously, she worked at a woman’s transitional shelter
through Project P.L.A.S.E. and for the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. Richman has
been involved with BIHN since 2002, and previously served as president of the
board. She is a member of Congregation Beit Tikvah.
Carol Wessner
Carol Wessner has been elected board member of BIHN and serves on the nominating
and finance committees. She served as assistant director
of nonprofit management training and education programs for the Johns Hopkins
University Institute for Policy until her retirement in 2006. At Hopkins, Wessner collaborated in the design and implementation of JHU’s
entire Center for Civil Society Studies’ domestic and international programs,
which provide training and education to increase the capacity and
sustainability of nonprofit organizations. She has previously served in
leadership roles at various non-profits around Maryland. Wessner is a member of Divinity Lutheran Church in Towson.
